Extended bidding is a feature used in Pristine Auction auctions to help ensure fair competition and provide bidders with an opportunity to respond to last-minute bids.
How Extended Bidding Works
When an auction item is nearing its scheduled closing time, it may enter an extended bidding period.
The extended bidding period lasts 10 minutes.
If a new bid is placed during the final 10 minutes of the auction:
- The auction timer for that item will reset and extend by an additional 10 minutes
- Additional bids placed during the extended period will continue extending the timer
This process continues until no additional bids are placed during the final 10 minutes.
Why Extended Bidding Is Used
Extended bidding helps:
- Prevent “last-second” bid sniping
- Give all bidders a fair opportunity to respond
- Create a more competitive and transparent auction environment
Auctions That Use Extended Bidding
Extended bidding applies to most auctions on the Pristine Auction platform.
Exceptions
The extended bidding system does not apply to:
- Ten-Minute Auctions
Ten-Minute Auctions will end at their scheduled closing time regardless of last-minute bidding activity.
Important Notes
- Auction closing times may continue changing while bidding activity remains active.
- Bidders are responsible for monitoring active auctions and bid status during extended bidding periods.
